Needless to say I was traumatized, and never considered coloring my hair again, Until Now!! There are some great YouTube vids on how the girls are applying it. There are also a few different brands, but I chose this particular one because of the "red" color and the ingredients. This is an herbal based hair wax with licorice root, tea tree extract, and castor oil which are all excellent herbs for hair health. So not only do you get the hair color, there's many benefits for your hair as well. Moreover, it's a great styler making my curls really pop! Some brands sell the wax without color just for those who would like to use it as a styling cream only. Each jar is priced at $14.99 but they seem to frequently have sales and I got it for $5.99. I've done one application so far and on my hair (which is shoulder length) and I can easily get a second application out of it. Thus far, I have been LOVING IT! So grateful that I can enjoy some new color in my hair!
Now if you're wondering if it bleeds the answer is yes. I get residue on my hands after I style, and have been wearing a bonnet to bed to save my pillow cases. However!! I have to admit that I watched a YouTube video where a girl gave specific instructions NOT to moisturize your hair before applying the wax. But I didn't listen at all. I was so worried about my hair not being moisturized that I used a leave-in conditioner and butter. So I think that the oil prevented the wax from completely drying onto my hair. So on my next application I will follow her advice LOL and probably update this article. So overall, I'm loving this wax. Once the red wears off Ill try the Gold color. Cant wait!

In the world we live in today, makeup is everything!! Good thing too because I love makeup! It's so much fun to experiment with different colors and looks. However, makeup is so good these days that it can cause us to neglect taking care of our skin underneath. When the facial skin is properly cleansed and moisturized, not only will the skin look healthier but your makeup will go on like butter, and you will use noticeably less. So here's a few tips on how to have beautiful, pre-makeup, facial skin.
1. Facial Steaming. There are so many benefits to steaming the face. The steam opens the pores to raise dirt that is deep in the skin to the surface in order to be removed. Anyone with acne, black/whiteheads, or any kind of break out can benefit from the steam. Also, it's very beneficial for those with oily skin, to open clogged pores. Facial steamers can range from $20-200. In my opinion, the more expensive ones have some nice extra features but they all get the job done. Steaming treatments can cost $20-100 for one session at the spa. So whichever one you choose, you will get your money worth. I prefer the hair/facial steamer combo. I use it to steam my hair during a deep conditioning treatment. Alternatively, you can fill a bowl with piping hot water, lean in with your face right over the bowl and towel over your head. Sit for about 10 minutes, and the job is done. Steaming can be done as frequently as once a week or once a month. **Side Tips** Add your favorite essential oils to the water and enjoy some aroma therapy as well. Take deep slow breaths. Not only is the steam good for your face but it will cleanse the lungs as well.** 2. Bentonite Clay Mask. I discussed the benefits of this clay in a previous article (here), and it does the same for the face. You just simply mix the clay, with water or apple cider vinegar, to a yogurt consistency. I prefer the apple cider vinegar, because it seems to break the clay down a little more. When mixed with water it tends to stay a little chunky. Leave the mask on until completely dry (about 20 min) then wipe off with a warm towel. My skin glows for days after this mask, and makeup looks flawless! 3. Facial Cleansing Brush. It's the perfect follow up to the steam and/or mask. These electric face brushes have become very popular over the past couple years. And thank goodness! They have made cleansing the face at home a cinch! It provides a thorough/deep clean that most cleansing tools do not. Now the prices for these brushes can range from $15-270. In my opinion, the expensive ones are worth every penny. However, I ordered one off of Groupon for $25, and its great. Most of them come with an attachment for body scrubbing, to give your whole body a deep cleaning, which is the perfect during a nice detoxing bath (I'll talk about that in another article.) 4. A Good Cleanser (To accompany your brush.) There's so many on the market you can take your pick. Something that is gentle with ingredients you can understand is preferable. I use a cleanser by First Aid Beauty or the Dr, Bronners Baby Castile Soap. 5. Toner. The right time to apply toner is after a good cleansing, especially after removing makeup. Which Hazel is a natural, herbal toner. I use T.N. Dickensons Which Hazel Pads, or which hazel on a cotton ball. Simply rub on the face and neck. Even right after bathing, you will be surprised at the access dirt that the pad will still remove. The benefits if which hazel were also discussed in a previous article (here.) 6. Moisturizer. The final step to a healthy face! There's several out there, but whatever you use on the rest of your body should suffice. And that's it!! Incorporating these tips in to a regimen should improve and maintain the health of your skin. And remember, what we put on the inside is just as important as what we put on the outside! So make sure to drink lots of water, and eat plenty fruits and vegetables. Please comment! Have a great day! |
